Our team of doctors at Adams Oral Surgery.


James W. Adams, D.D.S.  


Dr. Adams earned his Bachelor's degree in Natural Sciences from the Johns Hopkins University where he also lettered in both football and lacrosse.  He was a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 1977 and after a one year internship at Baltimore City Hospital he returned to the University of Maryland for his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.  He completed his residency in 1981.

Dr. Adams passed his board examinations and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in 1983.  He established Adams Oral Surgery in 1985, opening offices in both Hanover and Gettysburg.

Dr. Adams has been active in organized Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for many years on both a state and national level and has been honored with induction into both the American and International College of Dentists.

Gregory A. Rongione, D.D.S.  


Dr. Rongione earned his Bachelors of Science degree from Loyola College of Baltimore in 1989.  He graduated from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 1994.  He then did an internship in the D.C. Veterans Administration Hospital.  Dr. Rongione did his four year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Georgetown University Hospital, wher he was twice named resident of the year.

Dr. Rongione joined Adams Oral Surgery in July of 1999.  He took and passed his board certification exams and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2002.

Carl G. Tempel, D.D.S.  


Dr. Tempel earned his Bachelor's degree in General Arts and Sciences from Penn State University in 1990.  He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry in 1994.  He completed a General Practice Residency followed by a four year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the U.S. Army.  Dr. Tempel had a distinguished 12 year Army career during which he became a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, served in the Special Forces, and earned the Bronze Star while serving as a surgeon in Afghanistan.  He taught oral surgery residents for four years before leaving the Army with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Dr. Tempel joined the practice in 2006 and resides in Gettysburg with his wife and two sons.
