Restylane®

Restylane ® is a type of dermal filler that optimizes facial appearance with naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid. Used for cosmetic effect, Restylane ® plumps the lips, eliminates wrinkles and creates youthful looking facial fullness.

Restylane ® is FDA-approved and completely safe. As the skin ages, it sheds hyaluronic acid and loses its original volume. Restylane ® replenishes this natural component and makes the skin more elastic. Restylane ® can also be added to make the lips and lower cheeks around your smile look fuller and healthier.

What advantages can Restylane ® offer?

Restylane ® has a proven track record of treatment success, offering solutions to wrinkles and thinning lips. This filler does not require any touch-ups for up to one year after the initial treatment. Both the initial treatment and additional injections are quick and comfortable.

Here are some of the main advantages associated with Restylane ®:

  • Elimination of wrinkles and nasiolabial folds

  • Quick, effective treatment

  • Fuller lips

  • Stunning, radiant skin and smile

  • Plumper skin after facial fat loss

How does Restylane ® work?

Restylane ® is hypoallergenic, making it suitable for almost any adult seeking to improve facial aesthetics. Restylane ® is injected directly into the skin (dermis) where the hyaluronic acid binds with water molecules. Plumping occurs as each hyaluronic acid molecule binds to 1000 times its weight in water. This binding process fills in moderate and severe wrinkles and folds and can restore lost facial volume.

As the hyaluronic acid and water partnership begins to disintegrate (after approximately six months) a Restylane ® touch-up treatment is necessary.

Is there a difference between Restylane ® and Botox ®?

Many people confuse Restylane ® injections with Botox®. The two treatments are completely different. Botox blocks nerve transmission to relax muscles and eliminate frown lines, while Restylane ® utilizes the body’s natural chemistry to fill in facial lines. The key ingredient in Botox is Botulinum Toxin Type A. In contrast, the active agent in Restylane ® is hyaluronic acid, which is found naturally in the body.
